I tried to be a scrapbooker back in the 90's, but it just didn't take. I am not sure of all the reasons why, but I do know that it was expensive, that and the fact that I didn't have a dedicated space in which to work were two reasons. I also think it felt artificial to me, like I was trying to be someone else. I really wanted to love it, but I didn't. Maybe it just wasn't messy enough:)
I have been crocheting off and on since I was about 10. I have done other crafty things over the years; ceramics, photography, and a few others. I got into spinning and weaving near the end of 2012, and love it. I spin on a wheel and on a spindle, and I must confess spinning is my favorite of the two. I like to weave, but it is hard on my back. I have an old back injury that just "keeps on giving".
I have a great friend who introduced me to alcohol inks in November of 2015. Wow, what can I say except- it is addicting.
I started looking into art journaling during the Christmas Holidays of 2015. I watched a lot of videos, (my favorite way to learn something new) and tutorials. I actually came across the term art journaling while watching a video on using alcohol inks. I'm so easy, that, that was all it took for me to go looking for more videos, this time on art journaling. This website is my "rest of the story".
I started by altering a few old books. (That was very hard for me to do at first, but when I realized that the books I was going to use; had torn pages, were worn out, was the only one out of a set, etc...all unloved and on their way to the dump if no one bought them from the thrift store, I felt better about it.) I even made a few with different kinds of bindings and types of pages. I loved doing that. It seemed right to start this new adventure in January. So here I go.
This is still a pretty new site and I am going to be adding to it slowly, but daily. Please be patient and check back soon. Thanks!
