Faces are scary for me, so I enjoyed using these stencils. I will keep practicing faces, but meanwhile I will enjoy these.
Last Tuesday on KIL Heather was working with pigment powders and I was playing along here with my wool dye powders. The first photo is what I did that day. I really liked the vase and the flowers, but the center part with the stems was just ugly.
Today I added the last flower and more leaves and now I am happy with it. I also use white and black pens to define it better. Also FYI the colors in the second photo are much closer to the real thing.
I saw pictures of the work that some of my friends in the Kraafters Kommunity were doing with Water Color pigment powders. It really looked like fun. Someone mentioned that they had used Kool Aid powder for a similar result.
That reminded me that I had some tie dye powder and some wool dye powder so I got them out and played with them. It was fun. My results were not as good as those I saw other doing, but i think that is an artist issue not a pigment issue. LOL
My first page was really dark so I cut it up and made flowers to put on a page in my journal where I had played with them some more. I did a couple more sheets of water color paper and then I tried a crayon resist on three more water color pages. One with white crayon, one with orange crayon, and one with black crayon. I did the white one last and I like it the best. Maybe I am getting the hang of it.
The picture above is the first page in this journal and I was in a wonky mood so it is diagonal on the page. This is the journal I keep in my purse to doodle in when I am waiting to pick up the kids. Some of the pages I did on a trip, I had my watercolor pencils and a few other things with me to play with. The fifth picture below is the last page of the journal. I drew a wonky picture on it too. Now all I have to do is fill up the middle.
